How to brew with Aeropress
Instructions
1: Measure and Grind the Coffee
Start by measuring out 17g of coffee beans. The ideal grind size for AeroPress is slightly finer than sea salt. Grind the coffee to this consistency for optimal extraction.
2: Prepare the AeroPress
Place the AeroPress filter in the basket and preheat the brewer by rinsing it with hot water. This helps to ensure a clean and consistent brew.
3: Add Coffee
Place the basket on top of your mug and add the 17g of ground coffee. Distribute the coffee evenly to ensure an even extraction.
4: Add Water
Start a timer and pour 220g of hot water (just off the boil) into the brewer. Pour the water in a circular motion, saturating all of the coffee grounds within 10 seconds. This helps to extract the flavors evenly.
5: Place the Plunger and Wait
Place the plunger on top of the brew chamber and pull up slightly to create a pressure seal. Do not plunge yet. Allow the coffee to steep for about 1 minute and 15 seconds.
6: Stir and Plunge
At 1:15, stir the coffee and water mixture (slurry) to ensure even extraction. Place the plunger back on top of the brew chamber and gently press down with steady pressure. Stop plunging as soon as you hear a hissing sound.
And there you have it! Your perfectly brewed cup of coffee is ready to be enjoyed. Take a moment to savor the aroma and flavors of your AeroPress creation.
Remember, brewing coffee is both an art and a science. Experiment with different grind sizes, water temperatures, and brewing times to find your perfect cup. Enjoy!
