Fresh Coffee
Measurements:
Coffee Weight: 22g
Brew time: 3:00-3:30 min
Grind: Medium-Fine (Think Sand)
Total Water Weight: 352g
Water Temp: 200°F / 93.5°C :
Yield: 12oz
Instructions:
- Weigh and grind 22g of coffee to a medium-fine grind.
- Place a cone filter in the brewer and rinse it with hot water. This will preheat the brewer and remove any papery taste from the filter.
- Add your ground coffee to the filter and tare scale to 0 grams. Our preferred coffee to water ratio is 16:1(16g of water for every 1g of ground coffee)
-
Start your timer and gently pour a light stream of 50g of water into the center of the grounds, ensuring they all become evenly saturated. This is called the bloom. The bloom helps to release carbon dioxide from the coffee grounds, which allows for more even extraction. Bloom for 30 seconds.
- At the 30 seconds mark, gently pour water in a circular motion. Avoid pouring close to the edges of the filter. Stop when your water weight reaches 200 grams.
- Around the 1:30-2:00 min mark, Continue pouring hot water over the coffee grounds in a circular motion, making sure to saturate all of the grounds evenly. Bring the total water weight to 352g. Pour slowly and steadily, keeping the brew basket halfway filled with water for the next 1:00 to 1:30 min
- Once the coffee has finished dripping through the filter, discard the filter and enjoy your coffee!
Tips:
- Use filtered or bottled water for ideal taste
- Heat your water to 200°F / 93.5°C .
- Pour the water slowly and evenly to avoid disturbing the coffee bed.
- Be patient! It takes about 3:00-3:30 minutes for the ideal extraction
